Building Information and 'The Gap'

There's BIM, BMS and data loggers. But now there's biix.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is first and foremost design software for buildings. There have been attempts to make the model more robust by including facilities management information (think design data, O&Ms and as-builds) in the model, known as 6D BIM. While technical success has sporadically occurred, widespread adoption of 6D or facilities management information is far from widespread adoption.

biix - Accessing your information

Keeping it simple

Accessing information through biix uses a primary rule: make things intuitive. That means providing many easy paths to your information.

People have various ways of organizing information, and even the same person or company will change their approach from project to project. When we integrate your building into existing files via third parties (Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, MS SkyDrive), we have little to no ability to affect how those users have organized directories and sub-directories.

Is interoperability the new magic pill?

Is interoperability the new magic pill?

What is the next step in Smart Buildings? Making people smarter, right? People always come first, right? And isn’t the promise of interoperability going to improve our lives forever?

The Hidden Power of the 'D' Factor

terative Intelligence - back in the late 80's thru early 90's I did an extensive study on PID control. The study was NOT centered on building control systems, but instead focused on the application of the PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) formula to the human model, i.e., self-adaptive, self-corrective control.
Even today, most building control programmers still only use PI, because the 'D' aspect is considered to be a bit too exotic, an unnecessary complication, an exercise in overkill.
